Kendi Everyday has my bag →
And it seems she too abandons efforts to keep it latched shut. it’s white instead of a yellow-ish brown, but that’s my bag! In case you hadn’t noticed, I kind of think Kendi is amazing, so having the same bag as her makes me feel pretty stylin’.

Don't Let the Perfect be the Enemy of the Good
My dad says this to me and my sisters all the time, and I used to think of it often in law school. The mantra applies particularly well to the bar, methinks, and since I’m currently studying for the bar on a train to Philly to tailgate the Kenny Chesney concert with my dad for Fathers Day, it seemed just too appropriate. In some law schools, and especially in years past, the student earning...

Monday Munchies: Mapled Carrots!
When I’m procrastinating on a Monday, having a hard time finishing my last law school paper EVER, my mind naturally turns to food. Right now, it’s focused squarely on the delicious left over maple syrup carrots I brought as my afternoon snack. They’re delicious, and so freaking easy! I modified them from the delicious and beautiful Morning Glory Farm cookbook, and by modified, I...

You have to eat sometime! →
That was always Roommate and my excuse for making people hang out with us — “But you have to eat sometime, you might as well eat dinner with ME!” So imagine how cool I thought this is. It’s like the give-to-charity equivalent. Because even those of us living on student loans get takeout sometimes lots of times [fine!] all of the times. And to the DC inclined, there are a...

A perennial favorite →
I feel the need to break this one out whenever I see Lindsay Lohan looking, well, like herself these days. This GFY post from way back when I was in college reminds me of a time when people still believed that commenting on LiLo and her hair would compel her to quit dying it and start smiling again. I’ll be honest, I would not exactly consider myself pop-culture-knowledgeable. My pre-school teacher nicknamed me Caitie the Old Lady when I was *2*. So I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised that I really did not know or care to know what Coachella was…I had heard of it but didn’t much care to learn a lot about it. But for some reason I’ve been more inundated with it...

Spring, that is. Today the gym turned on its AC (with a note thanking us for being patient until this late date of April 17) and last night I slept without sheets. DC Summer might just be here.

Clothing choices
I read this article recently about limiting the choices in your life for your own mental health. It talked about (and bear with me here) how men make fewer choices in general than women — even a simple thing like getting dressed in the morning involves far fewer choices. Anyone who has tried to define business casual for men vs. women understands this. Every work day, men will generally put...

Friday Fiving (Belatedly)
I love the popular blog feature of choosing five things you love slash are thankful for to highlight on Fridays.* I’m also notoriously late to things. Last Friday I thought, “I should totally start Friday Fiving. I like recognizing good stuff!” And then promptly forgot about it. Yesterday, I thought the same thing reading all my favorite Five for Friday entries, and then sure...

By now I should know myself well enough to anticipate a slump in blogging come finals-travel-family time, but I continue to think that this semester’s end will be different! Well it was…but only in that it spilled over into the current semester’s beginning. I was so intent on posting a recap of December — but never had the time to sit down and do it — that I...

A good read if your a law nerd like me →
Oh Emily Bazelon. You manage to cram in SBS, the US judicial system, the 9th Circuit’s relationship with, well, everyone, Posner, self-incrimination (and its unreliability), and even a bit of encouragement for a well-deserved gubernatorial pardon. Its articles like this that make me realize how I really do appreciate what I’m learning here, even if the nuggets of gold are often stuck...
