If you’re on the east coast, or if you’re a weather channel aficionado, you’ve noticed the little issue of a record breaking heat wave on our hands. But this morning, when for the first time in I don’t know how long, I poked my head out the door and the heat and humidity weren’t *completely* unbearable, I decided it was finally safe to return to the roads for a run and abandon the stationary bike I’ve been strapped to these days. And anyone away from running for a longer than voluntary period of time will likely agree, the first one back was labored but so satisfying. The one thing I will say I did not miss, was the runner’s wave. It’s just awkward. And I don’t think it’s just because I’m socially inept and don’t always wear my glasses when I run, making said wavers more like flailing blobs.

Oh, did I say I would blog about my all American 4th of July like a bazillion weeks ago? Do you know what I did instead? Had not one but two housing arrangements for next year one week from now fall through and made several frantic trips from Mother Philly (bow of respect) back to the New World of DC to seek someone who would look kindly upon my “lack of income” and rent to this loan-receiving student. (I made promises of putting rent in escrow when I get my check at the beginning of the semester. I even promised a parental cosign, despite how low it made me feel to need my parents permission to rent an apartment at my age.) And now finally, I may, possibly, don’t want to jinx it, have an apartment. Well, rather, I have 5 real possibilities of apartments and if one of them does not come through I know not what I will do.
But in the mean time, here is a picture from my whirlwind 4th of July. This is one of many shots from the world’s best Independence Day parade. As for the rest of the weekend, it was exhausting, but it was epic. All the cousins, together again at last. Buenísimo.

Heard God Bless the USA on the radio this morning and totally got a bit misty eyed. Why does this happen to me every. time. I hear that song??? Happy pre-4th y’all!
